The Crisis in Haiti and Why You Haven’t Heard About It

Four hurricanes have ripped through the island nation of Haiti in less than four weeks. In the northeastern part of the country there are reports that 200,000 people have not had access to food or water. But from the hurricane coverage in the United States you’d hardly know that Haiti has been affected at all. What accounts for the imbalance? It may be that the poorest nation in the Western hemisphere doesn’t make the daily news.
