There’s more turmoil in the news business today than perhaps at any other time in recent history. Newspapers are sinking, old models are failing, and public trust in news media in general is declining. Yet the mainstream media are holding onto every last bit of power they have and that often means dismissing or marginalizing independent journalists, shying away from asking the questions that matter, and trading credibility for access. At the same time independent journalists are pushing back. Two of the best in the business, Jeremy Scahill and Glenn Greenwald join us tomorrow at noon eastern to discuss the decline of establishment media and who’s afraid of the independent press.

msnbc has been building itself up as the news for lefties, now that they have the viewers, they are laying in with the war promotion. what do we expect from GE?
Jeremy’s statement about the Indy Media using United Front to breakdown the establishment media’s power is right on the money….
The revolution might not be televised…but it will be live blogged….
Excellent segment Laura. Thanks.
Excellent. The arrogance of the established media knows no bounds.
And they are dying because of it. I say let the newspapers go the way of buggy whips – they are useless.
“Meet The Press” That title phrase doesn’t even make sense anymore. The “press” in MTP is so minimal and without purpose they ought to drop Gregory and just give the camera to the pols.
There was once a time (about 20 years ago, when Washington Week in Review had actual journalists. Those days ended with the Clinton administration and the show’s descent into gossip columnizing.
Wonderful show!
Newspapers are a distant nostalgic memory. I like the internet better. Was 67 yesterday.
yes, even luca’s fish doesn’t want to be wrapped in any newspaper these days.
