Charlotte Bunch, the founder and Executive Director of the Center for Women’s Global Leadership at Rutgers University, says that the Civil Rights movement persuaded her that being an activist was something she could make her life’s work. From the Institute for Policy Studies to a radical women’s discussion group and now the Center for Women’s Global Leadership Bunch has worked on behalf of women in the United States and around the world for more than four decades. It is the job of women’s movements to elect not just women, Bunch says, but women who are accountable.
