Rick Warren, who believes abortion should be criminalized and opposes gay marriage, will deliver the invocation at Barack Obama’s inauguration next week. Obama has since announced that the first openly gay Bishop in a major christian denomination, Gene Robinson, will also deliver an invocation. Equal opportunity? Not quite.
On GRITtv Eleanor Smeal, president of the Feminist Majority and the founder of Ms. Magazine, Faye Wattelton, President of the Center for the Advancement of Women, Jane Hamsher, the Founder of Fire Dog Lake, and Kenyon Farrow, a Policy Institute Fellow at the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) discuss whether Obama has made amends.

Haven’t we stopped waiting for SUPERMAN! Wasn’t Superwoman on the first Ms. cover? Wasn’t that the whole point of Ms.? A man on the cover, that he is superman, that no one is even noticing that Warren teaches that the wife must submit to the husband and abuse is not grounds for divorce. Are we only able to see one toipic at a time?
Tomorrow I will be at Saddleback Church, one of the largest mega churches in the world where they celebrate Rick Warren and all his political influence. Outside we, activists, will be marching instead of breathing a big sigh of relief that we worked to elect an advocate!
I am really disappointed.
