By the age of 18 Hazel Scott was already a huge success. Her mentor Bill Holiday had given over her spot at Café Society to the young prodigy. She later married Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. and they became the most celebrated black couple in America. Although she would become one of the biggest stars in America in the early 1940s, Scott today is a forgotten figure in musical and cultural history.
