The most important thing about the war in Iraq that we don’t hear anything about is the experience of death. The numbers are out there. Iraqi and American. It is unlikely that Americans will acknowledge anytime soon that they are at the center of that violence. How does that denial affect the way that we treat our veterans and the way that we understand our own role in the U.S. occupation?
