In part two of our special series on voting in the USA, the big question: Who the hell set things up this way?
From reading tests to ID challenges, felon disenfranchisement laws and the endless purging of voter rolls, the US is almost alone among industrial world democracies in having no uniform federal voting law. WHY IS THAT?
And how is history playing out today?
Then onto the financial crisis and the state of global capitalism with DANNY SCHECHTER and FRANCES FOX PIVEN.

From the Star Trib:
Voter registrations in Minnesota have already surpassed the record set in 2004, and the state could have nine out of every 10 possible voters signed up in time for November’s election.
If the 2000 and 2004 disenfranchised voters were the only ones allowed to vote back then they would have probably done a much better job than the so called legal voters.
In Lebanaon County PA:
Continuing a trend that started last year, the number of new Democrats is outpacing the number of new Republicans. Voting rolls show that 1,305 Democrats have registered since the primary, compared to 655 Republicans and 348 who are third-party or independent voters.
Please remember to check your voter registration status before election day! Do it now!

College Students, please check the rules about absentee voting etc. Check and double check the rules to make sure your vote is counted. I’m sorry I don’t have advice about how to do that, but look into it and pass the info you find out.
