In fighting to reclaim the Presidency, one of the Democrats primary charges is the corruption of the Bush Administration and its flagrant obfuscation and manipulation of its power to unconstitutionally undermine or eliminate its opponents.

One of the most tragic casualties in the Bush Campaign to politicize the Department of Justice was Gov. Don Siegelman of Alabama. Siegelman, who served from 1999-2003 as a Democratic Governor in a crimson red state, was defeated amidst a cavalcade of reported voting irregularities. Soon after, he was investigated and ultimately indicted and convicted and sentenced to 7 years for bribery and obstruction of justice under equally spurious circumstances – such that 53 Secretaries of State of both parties are calling for an investigation.

Don Siegelman is laying blame at the feet of the engineer of the derailing of the Department of Justice in the name of unabashed political gain for the GOP – Karl Rove. In light of the federal court ruling that Harriet Miers and Josh Bolton must comply with subpoenas to appear before the House Judiciary Committee, the chickens may be coming home to roost for Karl Rove. Certainly, according to Gov. Siegelman that would only serve justice.
