I agree with Siegelman. This country is in a dangerous place, if the DOJ is all partisan apparatchniks, no matter what party. And it’s a nonpartisan issue.

Incidentally, I thought the discussion of Bush’s ancestors in the intro post is particularly notable in this regard, because they are part of the historical record about how those in charge have eluded consequences for the atrocities they’ve been responsible for.

Prescott Bush was responsible for a significant amount of American capital going to Germany to help finance the Nazi war machine in the 1930s. His culpability included continuing to do business with the Nazis even after the outbreak of war. He faced potential charges of colluding with the enemy (his Union Bank assets were seized), but historians have concluded that after the war, there was a kind of gentlemen’s agreement to overlook these “indiscretions” because they involved so many masters of industry.

I hope that does not happen here.
