You could call it our fact check of Sarah Palin. We’ll take an up close look at a family values issue she doesn’t talk much about: paid family leave. After a major organizing effort New Jersey approved paid leave this April, following Washington and California. Can this be the family values issue of 2008?
Tonight on GRITtv we look at how New Jersey accomplished what they did with Andrea Batista Schlesinger, Executive Director of the Drum Major Institute, Ana Oliveira, President and CEO of the New York Women’s Foundation, Donna Dolan of the New York State Paid Family Leave Coalition, and Scott Stringer, Manhattan Borough President here in New York City.
We also have an exclusive interview with Stringer on the financial crisis playing out right here in Manhattan.
Russia’s stock market has taken a beating since the conflict in the Caucasus turned into a war in August. Today on GRITtv we look at the work of three photographers who have documented the events in Georgia and South Ossetia and what they might tell us about US-Russia relations since the end of the cold war. Paul Calhoun, an American photographer who has traveled to Georgia several times; Pierpaolo Mittica whose work has focused on Chernobyl, and Gia Chkhatarashvili a Georgian photographer who has documented the lives of villagers in the mountain town of Svaneti are exhibiting their work at the Abrons Arts Center in New York.
We also have a revealing report from The American News Project on the Family Research Council’s Value Voters conference in Washington, D.C. In the exhibition hall, ANP speaks to the makers of ‘Obama Waffles,’ a so-called satirical gag that draws on almost every racial stereotype in the books.
Tomorrow at noon we’ll be streaming live with Vincent Bugliosi. Be sure to tune in.
