Students For a Free Tibet projected a series of images onto the Chinese Consulate in NYC on Thursday, August 7th, the day before the opening ceremony in Beijing. The International Olympic Committee has filed a copyright infringement claim asserting that the group’s use of the Olympic rings is a violation. Ironically, one of the images projected is the rings reimagined as handcuffs. Watch the video the IOC compelled YouTube to take down…

Thanks to The Glass Bead Collective for sending us a copy of the video. (UPDATE 8/12/2008: YouTube reversed its position, and removed the block.)

Tonight on GRITtv our media roundtable looks at Olympic coverage and other big stories from the past week with Rory O’Connor, Katie Halper, and Esther Armah. And we remember Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. Stay tuned – the show goes up tonight at 8pm EST.
