Oil Price too low? The Price of health care too high? And can soccer (aka football) offer a way out of homelessness? Today on GRITtv, Laura talks to a panel of interested observers about the state of our health care system: a doctor, a patient and a nurse. (Don't miss this special appearance by Donna Smith - who was featured in Michael Moore's movie SICKO. ) In the UK this week, "General Practitioners" (otherwise known as doctors) are protesting Prime Minister Gordon Brown's plan to change Britain's National Healthcare System in a way that the doctors' say could deliver them into the hands of private companies. For the first time, stateside, 59 percent of US doctors think a public system would be preferable to what we've got. In Congress tonight, representatives of three supposedly-"red" states will take to the floor to speak in support of Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) single-payer plan (HR 676.) (Watch it on C-Span at 9 pm eastern in "special comments." Is the healthcare debate heating up? You bet.
Then, Chevron prosecutor, Dan Stormer, on the all too-cheaply priced killer -- gasoline. And a movie about homeless soccer-players. Kicking It, a documentary about the Homeless World Cup, opens in New York June 13th and around the country on the 27th. For more go to kickingitthemovie.com.
Thank you Laura!

It’s good to see coverage about the national Health Care for All movement … to get Health Care for All with non-profit single-payer national health insurance.
The Popular Support section of the Single-Payer Support Monitor documents that we want single-payer. Select the chart and take a look. The lists of organizations, endorsers, and supporters, represent tens of millions of Americans.
Looking at costs and savings, single-payer makes economic sense … saving up to $9,400 per yr instead of the Obama proposal of up to $2,500 per yr.
In the meantime, prior to single-payer being implemented, tens of thousands of Real People are dying unnecessarily per year with the current system: at least 75,000 unnecessary deaths per year, but one could say 101,000 per year if you read the details at the Real People web page.
Single-payer has many benefits.
We will finally get peace of mind regarding health care … what millions of people in other countries already have … instead of our current fears and worries, bankruptcies, loss of homes, calls from creditors, divorces
We need millions to get the necessary education.
And we need to have the Schedule followed by hundreds of thousands of people taking action.
Otherwise, we’ll fail again, just like the U.S. in 1993/1994, Oregon in Nov. 2002, in California in Nov. 2004, and so on, and so on … crushing, once again, the hopes of thousands of activists.
The Political Support section of the Single-Payer Support Monitor — its Voters Guide, its Chart, its Graphs of Progress, and its Supporters by State summary page — all indicate that much more needs to happen with some very specific focus. What’s that focus? I read the necessary words from Dr. Geyman.
Last night I was reading Dr. John Geyman’s latest book (Do Not Resuscitate). He states there that he thinks that this is an educational and political issue. YES, Dr. Geyman! I very much agree! We must focus on having Americans GET KNOWLEDGE through education and TAKE ACTION via a regular schedule of contacting their U.S. Representatives (and other obvious people, as desired … Senators and U.S. Presidential candidates).
Then and only then will we get it … via education of constituents and those constituents sending thousands of a variety of communications to their U.S. Representatives (Congresspersons).
Bob the Health and Health Care Advocate
P.S. Remember what Dr. Bob LeBow emphasized in his book (Health Care Meltdown) which some of us consider to be the bible of the Health Care for All movement: the ultimate objective is Good Health for All.
